Notes from the Waxhaws

Deepest darkness…

shortest of days…

midnight of the year.

Today, in the Carolinas,

mild and hazy…

Tomorrow…Savannah bound…

midnight in the garden

of good and evil.

On the cusp of a new year…

full of brightness…

full of promise.

  1. Dear Jim, Just want to send some holiday joy your way. I’d like to see Savannah again, lusty ol’ belle, decked out in her finest, mossiest Christmas best. For now the book, one of my forever favorite reads, will suffice. And it’ll wait until there’s a lull in life here. Wishing you happiness and health and a new year that keeps its shine until the next.

    • Hope you have a very nice Christmas too! I just finished the book and had to see for myself. It’s a beautiful warm, breezy evening…and walking these streets in the gloaming is quite dream-like…through the squares with their live oaks festooned with Spanish Moss. Quite easy to get lost.
      Happy New Year Amy!
