Notes from the Waxhaws

Enough is enough

Enough. These few words are enough.
If not these words, this breath.
If not this breath, this sitting here.
This opening to life
we have refused
again and again
until now.
Until now.

~ David Whyte, Enough

Sitting in the cool of the early morning…the faint hum of traffic in the distance is enough of the outside world. The  thrush in the woods singing its unanswerable question…the soft staccato drumming of a woodpecker…the delicate gray clouds drifting overhead…silently…through the palest of blue skies. All of these…enough.

  1. Love that poem, and your take on it.

    • Thanks Tom. I’ve just recently discovered David Whyte…his words are a revelation.
