Notes from the Waxhaws

Today felt like the first day of Spring here in the Carolinas…a balmy day in the seventies…with a gentle breeze. It’s still February though…have to be realistic. But…there are some optimistic trees starting to bloom…with their rose-colored flowers. And tonight…it’s lovely and mild. The temperature in the sixties…the frogs singing. Maybe they know something we don’t. They’re hopeful that the winter is over. We’ll see. But it’s nice to have the windows open tonight. Maybe I’ll hear the barred owl hooting off in the distance. And…I’m looking forward to hearing the whip-poor-wills with their nightly serenades…and even the annoying mockingbirds. The nights have been pretty silent lately…
